Transgression, Transition, Transformation: Essay in Caribbean Culture (2007) is a collection of twelve essay and three addresses on ethnicity, racial and cultural hybridity, colonial education, history, carnival and cricket.

Using the portals of calypso, poetry and fiction, it explores texts published between 1907 and 2007 to lay bare the many processes that have been at work or play in the shaping of Caribbean identity over a century.

It also celebrates the author’s closure of forty years of teaching at the University of the West Indies.
