Black Stalin: Kaisonian examines the career of the veteran calypso composer/ performer of Trinidad and Tobago. Stalin entered the calypso gayelle in 1959 and has been active there since then. The book traces in the socio-economic circumstances of his upbringing and the genesis of the abiding themes of his career-long Calypso.
About the Author
Louis Regis is a student of the Calypso. He holds a doctorate in calypso research from the UWI St Augustine and is the author of The Political Calypso: True Opposition in Trinidad and Tobago 1962-1987 (1999).
